They make it sound almost like only those mentioned have ever performed for our troops overseas. I find that a bit annoying since we all know randy did it at least three times.
Anyway, just thought I'd post this anyway.

I guess they didn't inquire of the USO folks of ALL the country artists who did USO tours to entertain the troops in combat zones. Apparently they were only intersted in the current crop of artists who have toured for the USO. I think Randy did a total of 4 tours. But I could be wrong.
I don't know what most peoples favorite patriotic song is, but I know what's my favorite patriotic song. The beautiful and moving "America Will Always Stand" holds the top spot in my heart. Dee
I am not sure, given it is a special issue, it will come in our mail boxes. I subscribe also but i have a feeling, given it is listed as a special issue, it may be like the Country Music issue wherein we have to find it.
I can't be certain but just a thought.

Dee, evidently it could be five; this is a transcript I saved from a Yahoo chat from online of Wednesday, October 25, 2000.
It reads in part:
tboggymarsh asks: Hi, are you planning on doing any USO concerts' for the soldiers overseas?
randy_travis_live: Haven't made any definite plans right now.
randy_travis_live: I think that would be great to do again.
randy_travis_live: We did 5 years in a row a while back.
y_chat_diva: Where'd you travel?
randy_travis_live: We went everywhere you were allowed to go.
randy_travis_live: Italy
randy_travis_live: Turkey
randy_travis_live: Spain
randy_travis_live: Japan
randy_travis_live: Korea
randy_travis_live: Alaska
randy_travis_live: I know I'm missing some ...
randy_travis_live: but there were 5 years of it.

Thanks Linda for that. I knew it was quite a few .Just wasn't sure on how many. But that is even more than I thought he had done. I do recall that chat. Also recall seeing him at an air port somwhere where he was wearing a USO jacket having just returned from entertaining the troups at one of those countries.
Maybe you should forward that to Country Weekly so they know that it wasn't just the current few (they choose to awknowledge) that have done USO tours.
I think because Randy had done so many of them, was the reason they (USO Representative) choose him to represent the industry on "Nashvile Tonight" to recieve the award for the Country Music industries contritbutions to the military. Dee
Yes, you're probably right and that Nashville now was one of my favorites. of course I was there so that made it even more special.
I was also there for the one wherein they had the tiger on the show; that was an interesting night to say the least. They wouldln't even allow me to have the dog in there so the hotel staff took care of him.
Sure miss those shows. I saw that my Verizon is soon to get RFD TV - they haven't yet but someone from Verizon told me to keep checking. She said we'd either have it end of month or start of next month.
I just happened across it listed in my TV Guide so called them.
Can't wait.

Country Weekly Special Issue
I can't wait until my issue comes in the mail. I've subscribed to it a quite few years ago. I enjoy the magazine.

Dee, I think you're right about four if we count the one Cuba one. I always tend to forget that one as i think it was only for one night.
But still, he was there.
